Most Front Range homes have asphalt shingle roofs, and many owners have filed at least one hail claim. Impact-resistant (UL 2218 Class 4) shingles have become common here because they hold up better in hail, and some insurers credit them. Intense high-altitude UV is the other enemy. It dries out shingles and sealant faster than at lower elevations.

Planning estimates for typical projects, not quotes. Your bids will depend on size, condition, materials and permit requirements.
Permits
Denver requires a permit for re-roofing, and a city-licensed roofing contractor must pull it. Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada, Littleton and Douglas County also require re-roof permits with inspections. Snow-load and ice-barrier details are part of the code here, so check that your bid includes them.
